Singapore Airlines plans to require all crew to be vaccinated against influenza in response to the recent deadly outbreak of H1N1 swine flu. The carrier notified its flights captains that it will move to fully vaccinate on July 6. Singapore Airlines already did so for all passengers flying in July and that had resulted in the first influenza-related death in a passenger in the carrier’s 32-year history. “We are stepping up our preparation for a potential pandemic and the decision to require all crew to be vaccinated is based on the globally accepted standard.” A spokeswoman said SIA will follow the code-of-conduct principles in its safety protocols and will also be updating local laws to more firmly regulate the use of masks. The carrier currently wears masks as part of its cabin safety training, and that will continue. Related: Singapore Airlines announces its first H1N1 flu death
